Do you remember the last time you bought something new and a sweet, poisonous smell hit your nose? The smell tells us something about the origin of these things. About the people who manufactured the product and their working conditions.
If you own it, it will take on your scent over time.

Paintings are an important part of our culture of remembrance, which is why in my solo exhibition at Kramer, I am tracing the smell that has faded there in a painterly way. In "The Smell Of New Things" I show portraits, still lifes and landscapes from our supermarkets in a secondhand store.
